Could It Take Longer?

I still wonder if the Italian woman sitting behind us thought that “non-stop” meant she was required to take up a conversation with her German seatmate that would last the entire flight from Detroit to Frankfurt. To transport myself away from those tiny tiny seats and truly constant banter (honestly, I’m not exaggerating, just ask George), I found a wonderful movie to watch – Chef. No deep message, just enough about aligning your priorities between food and life that it seemed slightly apropos given the focus of our upcoming adventure.

Oh, it also might have helped had I bothered to note that we were going to spend 5 hours in the Brussels airport between flight leg 2 and 3, but when the Brussels Airlines gate check confirmed that our bags were actually already packed in the bowels of the plane that was heading to Alicante, the last of our worries were over. And it only took 23 hours. Adios, los Estados Unidos. Hola, Espana.
