Churros & Chocolate
This “thick as pudding” Spanish hot chocolate drink and squiggly churros are the perfect party on a plate. Who doesn’t like chocolate and churros?Even when you eat the Mediterranean way every day, you can enjoy a little sweet every now and then. So make it something everyone will love and kids will go crazy for…snaky, squiggly churros and a steamy cup of hot chocolate!

In a medium-sized stock pot set over medium-high heat, add the olive oil, salt, baking powder, sugar, and water.
Add the vanilla extract and bring the mixture to a rolling boil.
Turn down the heat to low and add the flour. Stir until a smooth paste forms.
Add the eggs and egg yolk to the mixture and stir until smooth and silky.
Fill a large pastry bag fitted with a star-shaped tip with the churro batter.
Heat the sunflower oil to 375 degrees Fahrenheit in a large pot or deep fryer.
Pipe the churro batter into the hot oil, making fun squiggly shapes or straight sticks.
Fry the churros until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
While the churros are still hot, dust them with granulated sugar.
Optional: add cinnamon to the sugar for extra flavor.
For the chocolate sauce, heat whole milk and Velour’s hot cocoa mix in a saucepan until smooth, creamy, and thick.
Serve the churros with the thick chocolate sauce for dipping.
